FRLN79: Overcome Injury, Smash Your Money Limits, Upgrade Your Mental OS
This summer, my life was finally flowing.
Then BAM…
I got knocked back down.
Ever feel like that?
First, life was suddenly magical:
I discovered pickleball (obsessed).
I was playing 3-5 hours a day.
Going all-in on my business.
I felt like a kid again, enjoying an endless summer that never has to end.
Then I tweaked my back, couldn’t play pickleball anymore, and it totally sucked.
But here’s what I know to be true:
Your body is always speaking to you. It’s wise. It holds your beliefs, your emotions, and even the old stories you’ve carried with you since childhood.
This injury wasn’t just physical…
It was a message:
“You’re bumping against your upper limits again”.
That’s why today I’m going to share:
How to move your body through setbacks and injuries.
How your old money story might be capping your wealth.
How to install new beliefs so they become your default.
Let’s get into it…
FIT — Injuries Are Teachers
My pickleball injury kicked it all off… but here’s the thing:
Injuries happen.
Most people stop moving when they get hurt. They wait to ‘heal’ and lose all momentum (physically and mentally).
But that’s how you stay stuck.
If you want to grow, you need to adapt, change your workouts, and keep going (without aggravating it).
While my back needed rest, the rest of my body didn’t.
I kept lifting, walking, stretching, and moving — but wisely.
Done right, movement is medicine.
I tell my clients all the time:
Your body is your greatest teacher. When it sends you a signal, don’t punish it. Get curious. Lean in and find out what needs your attention.
If you’re dealing with an injury, here’s the solution:
Don’t quit your routine completely.
Find exercises that work around the problem area.
Use it as an opportunity to ask what your body is trying to tell you.
Do that, and you’ll come back stronger — in body and mind.
Because here’s the deeper truth:
Injuries aren’t always just physical…
RICH — Rewrite Your Money Story
My back pain wasn’t just physical.
It was tied to an old story about money.
Psychologist Gay Hendricks calls this the “Upper Limit Problem”.
When your life expands beyond what your old identity is comfortable with, you’ll find a way (often unconsciously) to sabotage it.
I’d hit a new level of joy, freedom, play — and deep down, an old out-worn belief popped up:
“Do I really deserve this?”
Growing up, my parents went bankrupt.
We were so broke that I was on the free lunch program at school. I remember feeling sick to my stomach just asking for new soccer shoes because money was so tight.
I carried the stress, and the belief that:
“I don't deserve this much.”
Decades later, I’m financially independent. I’ve built real wealth.
And yet… guilt lingered under the surface.
Guilt for having more than the people I love.
Guilt for the freedom I’ve earned.
Guilt for the joy I was feeling.
The truth is, every one of us carries old money stories.
Some come from family.
Some come from culture.
Some come from past failures.
And they show up in sneaky ways:
Staying stuck at a certain income level.
Feeling uncomfortable asking for a raise.
Self-sabotaging when you finally hit a big win.
In my upcoming program — Investing Mastery: Your Path to Millionaire — I’m devoting an entire module to unpacking and overcoming these hidden beliefs so you can break the cycle for good.
Because you can’t outperform your subconscious mind.
Your takeaway:
Spend some time this afternoon or evening journaling:
What limiting money beliefs am I ready to release?
What new empowering money beliefs am I ready to replace them with?
Wealth is more than strategy.
It’s a mindset upgrade.
And it’s your job to make it stick.
LIFE — Lean Into Your New Operating System
Healing doesn’t happen in a single instant.
You don’t just ‘delete’ an old belief and never see it again.
You have to practice your new truth until it becomes your default mode of operation.
This is what I’m doing right now (after releasing some of that guilt through EFT tapping and mantras).
Now, I’m leaning into my new beliefs:
“It’s safe for me to be joyful, abundant, and free.”
“The more I shine, the more I help others rise too.”
I can’t take other people’s pain away… that’s their healing journey.
But I can live my truth so fully that I become proof of what’s possible.
The same goes for you
You might have old patterns that want to pull you back.
That’s normal.
Your task is to live into the new pattern, daily, until it sticks.
If you’re doing inner work right now, here’s what helps:
Notice old stories when they pop up, don’t judge.
Take small, daily actions that align with your new story.
Surround yourself with people who reflect your new truth back to you.
Mood follows action.
New beliefs become your baseline when you live them — not just think about them.
ACTION — One Task, One Favor
Before you close this, pick one:
Adapt your workout — don’t let injury stop you cold.
Journal on an old money story you’re ready to rewrite.
Write down the new belief you’re practicing — and live it out this week.
Your Fit Rich Life is built one step at a time.
Physically, financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Your body knows. Your mind follows. Your spirit expands.
Keep going. Keep rising.
To your health, wealth, and happiness,
— Justin David Carl
