FRLN80: Fuel Your Fitness, Master Your Money, Live With Purpose
Anxiety about purpose plagues people.
It keeps them up at night, causes them to hate their jobs, and keeps them constantly worried about how to find meaning in their life instead of actually creating it.
Which is why I’m fired up about this week’s podcast guest.
Because he literally wrote the best book on purpose I’ve ever read.
But we ran out of time to get to my usual, 3-Part, Fit Rich Life Tips section of the podcast.
Which is actually perfect.
Because today I want to focus on how you can find purpose in each of these areas so you can effortlessly:
Fuel your fitness
Master your money
Live life with powerful intention
All fueled by nature’s most powerful motivators, meaning and purpose.
Let’s get started…
This Week’s Podcast: Jordan Grumet, Author of The Purpose Code
Jordan’s story is incredible.
He’s a hospice doctor. And as a result, he’s spent years sitting with people in their final days, finding out what truly mattered to them most when everything else was falling away.
He’s discovered what so many of us forget in the daily grind.
Our lives are made of tiny moments, meaningful connections, and the courage to show up for the daily climb, and not just the summit.
If you’re struggling to figure out, “What you’re here for…”
Then The Purpose Code is your new manual for life. It’s dead simple, deeply practical, and crystal clear.
Here’s your preview…
FIT — You Need a Strong Why for Your Fitness
You can have the best training plan in the world, but without a purpose behind your workouts, you’ll burn yourself out or find yourself drifting away when things get hard.
Your “why” is your fuel.
Maybe you want to be an example for your kids?
Show them what strong, healthy, and capable really looks like.
Maybe you want to be the grandparent who can still hike mountain trails at 80, or the parent who can crawl around on the floor with their toddler without throwing their back out.
Or maybe you just want to test your limits.
To see what’s possible for you mentally and physically.
It doesn’t matter what your fitness purpose is. It only matters that you have one. And it doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be strong enough to motivate you right now.
Because over time, it’s going to evolve.
Mine has.
And yours will too.
Right now? — My purpose is simple:
Support my pickleball obsession.
Every gym session is designed to make me stronger, faster, and more unstoppable at pickleball. But a few months ago, my purpose was to show my clients what’s possible for them and their bodies, even at age 43.
Abs, strength, energy… no excuses.
Seasons change. People do too. But the ones who stay fit for decades aren’t the ones chasing the perfect plan. They’re the ones who have a clear reason why.
What’s yours?
RICH — Give Your Money a Mission
One of the reasons I’m so passionate about financial independence is because it gives your money a purpose.
Without one?
You’ll squander it.
You’ll make more… but somehow have less.
Money is just a tool. It’s not your big purpose in life. But if you give your money a purpose it can fuel your bigger goals in life.
Attach a purpose to every dollar?
That’s when it starts working for you to help you build your dreams in life.
Maybe your money purpose right now is to get financially set as soon as possible so you can start living life on your terms.
Maybe it’s to build a side hustle that can set you free from your 9-5.
Or maybe it's to free yourself from debt and invest so you can say “F-You” to your toxic job and “Heck Yeah!” to more opportunities that light you up inside.
That’s why Jordan talks about Big P Purpose and little p purpose.
Most people think they need some massive, world-changing “Big P Purpose”. Like curing cancer, traveling to Mars, or building a billion-dollar empire.
But the truth is…
It’s the “little p purpose”, the everyday climb, where the magic really happens.
That’s why I love teaching people how to master their money.
Because the journey is the big win.
Money shouldn’t be your life’s purpose — but mastering it gives you the freedom to pursue everything else that is.
LIFE — The Climb is The Ultimate Destination
One of my favorite things about Jordan’s perspective is how he learned this truth from his patients.
At end of life, nobody talks about wishing they worked more.
They all talk about the memories they made, the communities they built, the friends they laughed with, and the moments when they were truly present.
When you chase your little p purpose, you create those moments in life.
And you do it with the people who matter the most.
The ones who share your mission.
One little p purpose that supports my life right now is Pickleball. And because of it, I’ve made at least 50 new friends in the last few months alone. Every game (won or lost), and every shared laugh is another experience that fuels my happiness.
When I started my local financial independence group? — the same thing happened.
Dozens of new friends, all climbing the same mountain.
When you have your little p purposes dialed in, you’ll attract the kind of people that will help you build and live a deeply fulfilling life.
Because when you’re with your people, the climb gets lighter, the joy gets deeper, and your life gets richer.
Big P or little p…
The choice is yours.
Just get started and don’t drift.
The worst thing is to look back and realize you never climbed at all.
