FRLN97: Make Fitness Fun, Start Getting Rich, Love Out Loud

Eight months pregnant and confined to bed, Claudia Quintela could barely stand without fainting.

Most people would have pressed pause.

Instead, she launched her first business — from bed.

That chapter of her life became the catalyst for reinvention. After years in finance, she traded the illusion of security for the freedom to build something meaningful.

In our Fit Rich Life Podcast conversation, Claudia shared powerful lessons on health, money, and purpose — reminders that it’s never too late to start over and design a life that truly fits.

Here are my favorite takeaways for your fitness, money, & happiness:

FIT — Find Something That’s Fun

When I asked Claudia about her fitness philosophy, she said:

“Find something that’s fun. Bonus points if you get to do it with a friend.”

That simple line captures one of the most important truths about movement: consistency comes from joy, not discipline.

Willpower runs out. Fun doesn’t. When you actually enjoy the way you move, you don’t need to push yourself — you want to show up.

For Claudia, that looks like weekly CrossFit sessions with her best friend. They hold each other accountable, laugh, and leave every workout stronger.

For me, it’s pickleball. I’ve been playing 6-7 days a week, for 2-5+ hours, and I’ve met 50+ new friends through it. It’s not just fitness anymore — it’s community, challenge, and connection.

Plus, it's reinvigorated my strength training sessions because now I do new, specific exercises to make me stronger on the pickleball courts.

If you’ve been struggling to stay consistent, stop chasing the “perfect plan” and start chasing joy. Try different things until something clicks. And when it stops being fun, that’s not failure — it’s a signal to evolve.

RICH — Start Small and Stay Consistent

Claudia’s financial wisdom is straightforward and timeless:

“Start saving and investing early — even if it’s just five dollars.”

After years in finance, she’s watched countless people fall into the trap of looking rich instead of becoming rich.

She's especially passionate about empowering women to become financially free.

As she put it, “A handbag is not an investment.”

That hit home because I lived that phase too — the fancy car, the luxury condo, the external success masking internal stress. I was performing wealth instead of creating it.

Everything changed when I started investing consistently and letting compounding do its quiet, unstoppable work.

And here’s the thing: it’s never too late.

As my friend JL Collins says, once you get serious about financial independence, it’s about a 10-year journey — no matter when you begin.

So if you’re reading this and haven’t started, begin now.

Invest $5 a month, then $50, then $500. The habit matters more than the amount. Because each dollar you invest isn’t just money — it’s momentum toward freedom.

LIFE — Love a Lot and Say It Out Loud

When I asked Claudia what she’s learned about living a rich life, she said:

“Love a lot — and say it out loud to the people who matter.”

It’s simple, but profound.

Because we spend so much time optimizing for success that we forget to express the love that gives life meaning.

Claudia put it perfectly: “If I were to die today, I’d want the people I love to know it — not just assume it.”

That hit me. Because it’s true — we never know how much time we have. The richest moments in life aren’t built on achievements but on connection, gratitude, and presence.

So this week, take her advice. Tell the people you love that you love them.

Don’t wait for the perfect time.

Don’t assume they already know.

Say it. Show it. Mean it.

You can’t control how long you live, but you can control how deeply you love.

And that’s what a truly rich life is built on.

ACTION — Upgrade + Why This Episode Is Worth It

Pick one to upgrade your week:

  1. Try a fun new form of movement — something that makes you smile, not suffer. Bonus points if you bring a friend.

  2. Automate one small money move — set up a recurring investment, even if it’s just $5.

  3. Tell someone you love them — out loud, today. Don’t wait for the perfect moment.
