FRLN93: 5-Minute Mobility, Money Lessons For Kids, Optimize Your Energy

If you’ve ever found yourself saying “there’s got to be an easier way” when it comes to staying fit, rich, and happy (especially if you’ve got kids in the picture)…

Then my latest podcast with Grant Lee from Gamma is what you need.

Grant is the CEO & Co-founder behind the AI-powered presentation app that’s changing how teams craft and communicate ideas. He’s also a thoughtful leader, husband, and father.

And in today’s newsletter, you’ll catch a glimpse.

Here’s what’s inside:

  • A 5-minute daily habit that primes your brain and body for action.

  • The best money lesson to give your kids without ever saying a word.

  • How to create more energy for all areas of your life.

Let’s get started…

FIT — What If You Lost This?

For Grant, most mornings start with a five-minute stretch and mobility circuit.

Nothing heroic — just hips, spine, and shoulders. “If I move first, my brain follows. If I sit first, I stall.”

That one line stuck with me: move first, stall less.

It’s easy to romanticize 90-minute workouts, but 5 minutes of mobility daily will keep your body & mind primed for high performance.

For Grant, those five minutes are the switch from off to on, from tired to focused, and from resistant to ready for action.

I’m a big believer in perpetual motion — pedaling at my desk, walking calls, doing my content creation on a cardio machine, etc.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with more ground time too (foam rolling, floor sits, even crashing on a Japanese floor mattress when I need perfect sleep). Why? Because getting up and down from the floor is a longevity pattern most people quietly lose… until they need it.

Cultures around the world include sitting on the floor for meals, along with sleeping on the floor, which organically provides this movement pattern in their daily routine without any extra effort.

But for most of us in the US, we never have to get up and down from the floor.

Until one day, the ability is just gone.

It’s easy to get busy and forget to keep those basic movements alive.

But if you build the right movements into your daily routine, you'll be golden in your golden years.

RICH — How Do Kids Pick Up Money Habits?

Grant’s money tip? — Ask yourself 2 questions:

  1. What am I teaching my kids about money?

  2. Am I modeling the behavior I want them to have?

Our kids don’t inherit what we want them to believe — they inherit our unconscious beliefs and behaviors. If money is always an emergency and anxiety at home, kids internalize that. If money is clarity + choice, they internalize that too.

Money is energy, and kids absorb your energy around it long before they understand the math.

If they always see you stressed when bills come in, they learn money equals pressure.

If they see you calm and intentional when you pay those same bills, along with seeing you gratefully utilize money to create a rich and free life, they will learn that money is a tool they can use to build a life they love.

That’s the real legacy. Not just the money you leave them, but the relationship with money you model every day.

So ask yourself:

When I talk about money in front of my kids, am I radiating fear… or freedom?

And is the way I behave around money (earning, spending, saving, investing) what I want my children to inherit?

LIFE — Who’s Stealing Your Energy?

Grant’s life tip?

“It’s all about the people. Surround yourself with folks who give you energy. If you’re surrounded by vampires… make a change.”

This isn’t just about company culture; it’s about lifestyle design. I know from my personal journey that this is a huge factor in the quality and progression of our lives.

One bad apple taxes the whole system, whether it's a person in your business or someone in your friend group.

After I game back from FinCon, my energy spiked for days — because I soaked up all that good energy from the people in the room.

I also used to run a local Financial Independence meetup group where 20-50 people committed to achieving financial freedom showed up monthly. And that group of people gave me rocket fuel for my own money journey.

Here’s a quick audit you can run this weekend:

  • Who leaves you feeling energized?

  • Who makes you feel drained?

  • What environments inspire you?

Then do something ruthlessly kind: double down on energizers, set healthy boundaries with vampires, and design your week around places that raise your vibration.

ACTION — 10-minute upgrade + Why this episode is worth it

Pick one to upgrade your week:

  1. Set a 5-minute morning timer. Hips, spine, shoulders — nothing fancy. Prime your body, and your brain will follow.

  2. When you handle bills or talk finances, breathe and smile. Show your family that money is energy you happily utilize to build a Fit Rich Life.

  3. Make two lists: Energizers vs Vampires. Add one energizer to your calendar this week, and see how much you can limit energy with vampires.

Then grab the full convo with Grant Lee so you can:

  • Discover how Grant tried and failed at starting another company before he found success with Gamma.

  • Learn the question he asks every hire to make sure they add energy — not drain it.

  • Get a behind-the-scenes look at how he built Gamma and how his health, wealth, and life philosophies shape his success.
