Greetings Fit Rich Fam!
I am just wrapping up a 10-day staycation for my 42nd birthday (April 30th) and thanks to my incredible wife I had a wonderful birthday filled with kayaking, hiking, and biking all over beautiful Northern California.
Movement in epic mother nature fills my spirit with magic.
Without further ado, let's proactively build your Fit Rich Life.
This is your weekly dose of actionable tips, tools & strategies to take your Fitness, Money, and Life to the Next Level.
FITNESS: Staying fit during vacation.
For most of my life, any time I traveled or went on vacation my fitness suffered (or went to total shit if we're being honest).
I had this limiting belief that my fitness went to crap when I traveled.
Since that was my unconscious belief, that's what happened.
It all changed when I decided to adopt a new belief.
The new belief was: "I maintain or build upon my fitness when I travel and go on vacation."
With that new mindset, I restructured my vacation. This included the following key items:
(1) Booking accommodations that had a usable kitchen and cooking one meal for myself each day and then eating the other meal out at a restaurant.
(2) Tracking my nutrition while on vacation. This means tracking with a food scale when cooking for myself and estimating but still tracking while I am eating out.
(3) Staying committed to working out by having access to a gym or doing a bodyweight workout in my accommodation or outside. Most of the time I optimize for a gym as I like to think of new-to-me gyms as mini-adventures. These gyms are like playgrounds for my inner child.
(4) Optimizing my vacation for physical adventures like hiking, biking, rollerblading, kayaking, or any adventure that requires physical movement.
(5) Keeping my step count high and using it as an excuse to explore on foot or by bicycle as much as possible.
With this new mindset and the strategies above, I'm happy to report that I usually come back in even better shape after a vacation, or at worst, in about the same shape as I was before the vacation.
MONEY: Increase your earning power.
One of the most powerful aspects of increasing your earning power is that it significantly increases your lifetime earnings and if you live below your means it's only a matter of time before you reach financial freedom where all work is optional.
Working with coaches and investing in courses and workshops to level up my skills has made all the difference in my earning power.
I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars investing in my own development over the last several years BUT this has led me to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars more per year.
I'm talking exponential earning here.
Both in my career and with side hustles.
Pair this with learning how to invest in the stock market (another form of earning) and I'll have around $17 Million even if I never earn another dollar by the time I hit traditional retirement age (65).
But to be honest, I doubt I'll ever stop earning money because I enjoy being productive, contributing to others, making an impact, learning, and growing.
Friendly reminder, that I didn't even start to turn my money situation around until age 34/35.
Up until that point I was massively in debt ($80,000 in credit card and student loan debt).
I share this because I want you to realize that it's never too late to turn it all around.
The key takeaway here is to proactively invest your time and money into increasing your earning power in your current career, start side hustles that add to your earning power, and learn how to invest in the stock market to exponentially grow your lifetime earnings.
LIFE: You are the source of what you are, what you do, and what you have.
Whether you're fit or fat, rich or poor, happy or unhappy...
You are the source of every circumstance in your life.
You can continue to play the victim, blame other people/organizations, make excuses, and avoid taking responsibility.
Or you can take 100% responsibility for EVERYTHING in your life and proactively build the life you want.
No one is going to save you.
Furthermore, there are plenty of people who started in a way worse situation than you are in, with way less resources, less opportunities, who have less talent, less intelligence, and had more odds stacked against them who have far exceeded you.
You can get jealous and be filled with envy.
Or you can be inspired and take responsibility to turn it all around.
If they did it, so can you.
Closing Thoughts:
Small actions each day and each week towards your goals add up to quantum transformation over the years.
What will you do this week to move the ball in the direction of your desires and dreams?
