"Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can walk with love and reverence."
—Henry David Thoreau, American Philosopher

Greetings Fit Rich Fam!

I recorded a special solo podcast where I cover how anyone can renew their marriage vows & empower their relationship to continue to grow over the years.

If your relationship is stagnant it's only a matter of time before it dies. So take this as a message from the Universe that it's time to get proactive.

In the same podcast recording, I also cover how I get even more fit during vacation & travel.

I used to be one of those people who destroyed their fitness every time I went on vacation.

That no longer happens.

Now I get fitter every time I travel or go on vacation, have loads of fun & still enjoy plenty of delicious food!

Tune into Episode 59 of the Fit Rich Life Podcast to take your Marriage & Travel Fitness to the next level!

Without further ado, let's proactively build your Fit Rich Life—FRL! Your weekly dose of actionable tips, tools & strategies to alchemize your Fitness, Money & Life to the Next Level.

FITNESS: Activate your heart before your workout for increased gains.
One of my secret strategies for being fitter than the average person is that I strategically get way more bang for my buck when it comes to my strength workouts.

The way I do this is by getting my heart rate elevated before I start my strength training.

Usually, I do this by spending 10-20 minutes on a Stairmaster or walking uphill on a Treadmill but any cardio machine or activity will do.

My goal with this strategy is very simple. I spend the first 5-minutes going fairly slow & just get my body warmed up.

Then for minutes 5 & beyond I proactively work towards getting my heart rate zone up to a Heart Rate Zone Level 4 and then just briefly touch Zone 5 for 30-90 seconds.

Then I go start my strength training.

By implementing this strategy my heart rate will stay elevated during my entire workout and I will end up burning significantly more calories than if I had not gotten up my heart rate before starting my strength training.

A nice bonus benefit of this strategy is that it leads to even better strength training sessions because my engine is warmed up which results in way more new Personal Records (PRs) on most of my lifts.

In order to know what heart zone you are in you will need a reliable Heart Rate Monitor (HRM). I personally prefer a Chest Strap HRM as they are much more accurate, especially during activities like lifting weights.

My Garmin Watch  & Chest HR Strap let me know what Heart Rate Zone I am in but you can google "calculating target heart rate zones" to get a few different ways to calculate your personal Heart Rate Zones as it's different for everyone depending on your age & current fitness level.

You don't need a crazy expensive smartwatch like the one I use. You can actually just pair a good Chest HRM with your phone for a low-cost way to get accurate HR readings for your workouts.

My favorite options are:

(1) the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus is what I use but I only recommend it to those using a Garmin Watch.
(2) the Wahoo TICKR X is the most comfortable chest strap I'm aware of & it can be paired with your smartphone via an app that is available for iOS & Android.
(3) the Polar H10 is another great option that also has an iOS & Android app that you can use to monitor your Heart Rate Zones.

All three of these HRMs pair with many smartwatches if you already have one. You won't be tied to your phone this way.

MONEY: In money, career, business & entrepreneurship you don't know what you don't know (until you do).
This is why it is imperative to have mentors, coaches, and a mastermind group & regularly invest in updated online courses that will literally save you years of trying to figure out things through trial & error.

I resisted this for most of my twenties & then in my mid-thirties I started investing heavily in my personal education & growth via coaches, mastermind groups & courses.

This led to exponential growth in my career, earning power, entrepreneurship & net worth.

To this day, I know without a doubt that if I had started investing in myself in my twenties instead of my thirties I would be at the $10M-$20M Net Worth level instead of just being a single-digit Multimillionaire at 41 (my current age).

If you haven't started investing in yourself the good news is that it's never too late to start and then witness as your money, career, & entrepreneurial endeavors start taking off exponentially like a hockey stick (up & to the right).

LIFE: Stop trying to find yourself. Instead, create yourself.
By default, if you are trying to find yourself it means that you are "lost."

This leads to a ridiculous amount of unnecessary anxiety & existential angst.

I know because this was me.

What I've now learned is that trying to find oneself is a terrible strategy for living life.

Instead, reframe your life strategy to something this is in your control.

You do this by proactively creating yourself.

The neat thing is that it doesn't even matter what or how you choose to proactively create yourself.

You can literally just choose to be ____________ (choose your own adventure) and start taking action as if you were going about creating & living that state of being.

In short order, you will discover if whatever you chose is a good fit.

If it doesn't feel like a good fit, just pick a new creative outfit/expression & repeat the process until you identify a creative state of being where you start to feel "pulled" into it.

This is where it just fits so well that you want to embody it even more.

You will feel the click from pushing to become ________ to being pulled faster & faster into becoming a greater & greater version of ________.

In conclusion, stop trying to "find yourself" & instead take matters into your own hands by proactively creating your best self (no matter how many iterations it takes).
