Me & my Wife at CampFI in Joshua Tree (2018). CampFI is a weekend workshop & community event for people pursing Financial Independence.

Greetings Fit Rich Fam!

Independence Day always makes me contemplate how important freedom is to me. It's my top personal. Throughout my life, I've diligently worked to create more freedom in all areas of my life. There are multiple layers of freedom. Part of it is the mindset you have. You tend to be & feel as free as you think you are.

Another major part of Freedom is Money. I think of money as a form of life energy. When cultivated & held in a healthy manner, money can create a massive amount of personal freedom in one's life. It empowers you to live & work in a way that suits your ideal lifestyle.

At the end of 2017, I started to binge-listen to Paula Pant's award-winning Podcast Afford Anything. This became one of my regular sources of inspiration & education as I pursued my own Financial Freedom.

In October of 2018, my wife & I got to meet Paula in person at a weekend event called CampFI in Joshua Tree. This ended up being one of the best things that ever happened to me & my wife and it empowered us to finally get aligned on our money. This is especially important to me as I've long known that money is one of the top reasons that marriages fail.

Back in 2018, I dreamed of having my own podcast & having someone like Paula Pant on my show. Well, folks, dreams do come true if you continue to pursue them. In Episode 55 of the Fit Rich Life Podcast, I share the mic with none other than Paula Pant herself to talk about her recent 10-month sabbatical, discuss strategies for people who are unhappy with their current job or career, delve into how one can start their own entrepreneurial journey, & much more. Definitely worth a listen for anyone looking to master their money & find work that adds life to one's life!

Without further ado, let's proactively build your Fit Rich Lifeā€”FRL! Your weekly dose of actionable tips, tools & strategies to alchemize your Fitness, Money & Life to the Next Level.

FITNESSIncorporate a daily shoe tie balance challenge.
One of my Fit Rich Life Philosophies is to weave fitness within one's day-to-day life by doing things that you already have to do while incorporating fitness at the same time. Balance is fundamentally critical to one's overall fitness & it becomes even more important as you get older. A simple way to work on your balance daily is to incorporate the "shoe-tie balance challenge" every time you put on shoes. The challenge is to stand on one foot while putting on your sock & shoe and then tie your laces all while not touching your non-standing foot to the ground. Then repeat this on the other side. If you've never done this before, chances are that you will suck at first. But then within a few days or a couple of weeks, your balance will radically improve. This simple practice will pay massive fitness & healthspan dividends for the rest of your life.

MONEY: Surround yourself with wealthy people.
Studies have shown that one's net worth tends to be highly correlated with the people they spend the most time & energy with. You cannot help but to take on the mindset, values, habits & actions of the people you surround yourself with. One of the ways that I radically increased my own net worth in only a couple of years was by joining a Money Mastermind Group. This mastermind group had plenty of Millionaires and other people who were proactively, consciously & diligently working towards becoming millionaires themselves. I count this as one of the main reasons I've since become a multimillionaire. There are plenty of ways to get around wealthy people. You can join a Mastermind (like the one I have within my coaching program), you can join another one online (just do an internet search), or you can even start your own. You could attend a CampFI event to connect with other people pursuing Financial Independence (and those that already are FI). You could also just strategically work to spend more time with the wealthier people you already know. Obviously, make sure the wealthy people you do spend time with are people you admire for other traits like having strong family values, fitness/health habits, or other mutual positive interests. There are good & bad people at all levels of wealth. Choose wisely.

LIFE: Let the heart lead, and the mind execute.
This was a nugget of wisdom that Paula Pant dropped during our time together on the pod and I absolutely love it because I think many of us sacrifice the overall quality of our life by leading with the mind. We tend to do what makes sense on paper without even checking in on what our heart really wants. Most of us are guilty of this order of thinking & action. We take the job or career because it's the "smart thing" or "safe thing" to do and end up unhappy in the long run. Paula encourages us to do what the heart wants and then use the mind to figure out how to make it make sense. I firmly believe that is the right order of thinking & action. It's also a great rule for living a life you're truly proud of.
