Weekly Tips, Tools & Strategies to alchemize your Fitness, Money & Life

“Your birthday is the beginning of your own personal new year. Your first birthday was a beginning, and each new birthday is a chance to begin again, to start over, to take a new grip on life.”
— Wilfred Peterson, American Author

Greetings my fellow Life Alchemists!

It's my birthday! YEEHAW! 41 years young!

If you want to give me the best birthday gift ever it would be leaving me 5 stars on Spotify and/or a short review on Apple Podcasts as that is the best way to support the show (it helps the show get discovered by more people).

So if you have it in your heart to take 1-2 minutes to leave me a rating & review that would truly mean the world to me so I can further deliver on my mission of empowering people to proactively design & truly live a life worth living!

As you all know I've been working diligently with my team to get the podcast rebranded. The rebranding is complete on Spotify, but Apple is undergoing Podcast Maintenance so though the name is updated on Apple the Podcast Cover is still showing the old show... Hopefully, this will be complete soon.

Without further ado, let's proactively build your Fit Rich Life—FRL! Your weekly dose of actionable tips, tools & strategies to alchemize your Fitness, Money & Life to the Next Level.

FITNESS: You can't lose if you don't quit.
My goal was to be 7% body fat by my birthday and I'm only at 9% so technically I missed my goal. I have two options: (1) get upset & quit or (2) keep going & reach the goal later than anticipated. I think you already know what this Life Alchemist is going to do, but it's incredible how many people just give up on their goals because they miss them. I'm definitely guilty of this so I'm not pointing fingers. What I am pointing out is that if you decide to not quit on your goals you can't lose. You will reach them if you stay persistent. Life happens. You're going to miss goals. Always do your best to hit your goals by the date you set, but if you miss them don't give up. Reflect on the feedback around why you missed your target goal date & use that to become better at achieving your goal. Forgive yourself, set a new date, improve your process & keep going. That's what I'm doing with my fitness because I'm on a mission to show people what's possible for one's fitness in their 40s and the only thing that can stop me is me. I'm not going to be the reason I fail & quit. The same should be true for you whatever goal you are pursuing.

MONEY: Strategically invest your money to build your Fit Rich Life.
While I do believe there is a time & place to be ultra frugal (especially at the beginning of your money accumulation phase) there also comes a time & place when you've accumulated a lot of money & it makes sense to utilize your money (aka Life Energy) to invest in proactively building your unique Fit Rich Life. There are a few areas where I invest heavily in my own Best Life. These include personal development (coaching, masterminds, workshops & books), fitness (equipment, tools, gyms, supplements, & organic groceries) & creativity (sound & video production, studio equipment, etc). Travel is another area I happily invest in because travel always provides experiences that pay memory dividends for years to come. Although I haven't paid for a flight since 2017 due to building up the skill of "travel hacking." More on that another time. Nonetheless, I am still frugal in other areas like housing & car. As I grow wealthier I will continue to upgrade various aspects of my life, but never at the mercy of my Financial Independence. The key is finding your balance in living your Best Life during the entire Journey. Not being so frugal that you hate your life but not falling pray to YOLO & squandering all your efforts to build up your Financial Freedom. Utilize the middle path & invest strategically in the areas that truly bring happiness and are aligned with your goals & values at a level that still empowers your Financial Independence Journey while cutting ruthlessly in areas that are not important to you.

LIFE: Take time off to reflect & revitalize.
I have a personal policy of taking at least 1-week off every single quarter. This does several powerful things for me. (1) It gives me time to reflect upon how I'm living my life, what's going well & what could be better so that I can consciously work to improve & refine my life & work. (2) It empowers me to step away & step back and realize just how good my life is. If I don't take time away from my normal routine I will forget just how good I have it and get burned out. (3) It forces me to get things figured out with work so that I can actually step away. This means proactively building up the support, coverage, & systems that empower me to actually step away. Rest is the basis of successful endeavors. This is especially true if you want to be successful in multiple domains such as business, fitness & relationships. We all know people who destroy their fitness, health & relationships in the pursuit of their careers & money. Don't be one of those people. There are plenty of people who are successful in many areas of life & you can be one of them if you do life right.
