"The greatest gap in the world is the gap between knowing and doing."
— John C. Maxwell, American Author & Speaker

Greetings my friends,

Summer is in full swing. I hope you are all making the most of it!

Last weekend, I got to visit Oregon to catch up with relatives on the family farm.

I used points to cover the airfare and stayed with my younger brother, his wife, and his daughter at his friend's house to maximize my time with him and save on accommodations.

I did this despite being a Multimillionaire who can easily afford an Airbnb or Hotel because why not save money and spend more time with the people I love?

I then used the money savings to buy groceries for my brother's family, toilet paper for the owner of the house we were staying in (because they were running low), and even took my brother out to a nice dinner before I left as thank you for letting me stay with him and his family.

Being smart with money is a habit that can play into your favor when done strategically.

Without further ado, let's proactively build your Fit Rich Life.

This is your weekly dose of actionable tips, tools & strategies to take your Fitness, Money, and Life to the Next Level.

FITNESS: Tricking yourself into more consistency.

Committing to daily movement is easier than exercising 3-4 times a week. It is much harder to go exercise when you plan for days off.

One day off can turn into two days off, which turns into three days off, which turns into the habit of NOT going to workout for weeks/months.

Despite what some may think, I go through periods (sometimes months long) where I don't feel like exercising.

Nonetheless, I drag my ass to the gym and just get started. I tell myself I can just go to the gym and foam roll and do some stretching to move my body.

90% of the time this leads to me committing to a full 30-60 minute workout, because f*ck it, I'm at the gym and I may as well make the most of it.

The other 10% of the time I end up just foam rolling, stretching, and maybe doing some light cardio (walking uphill on the treadmill or climbing the stairmaster for 10-20 minutes).

Even when I don't go to the gym, I make sure I move every day even if that means just walking my neighborhood.

All of this is based on Newton's Law which states that an object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion.

By staying in motion, even if it's minimal, I stay in great shape year-round, even when I don't feel like exercising.

MONEY: Learning to manage your investments can save you hundreds of thousands of dollars.

A 25-year-old who plans to retire at 65, has $25,000 in investments, invests an additional $10,000 each year, and earns a 7% average annual return.

Paying just 1% in fees to a Financial Advisor costs this person ~$590,000 in sacrificed returns over 40 years.

F*ck that.

Learn to invest.

Fire your financial advisor.

Keep WAY MORE of your money.

No one will take care of your money better than you.

I've worked with many people who had an Assets Under Management (AUM) Financial Advisor or Investment Advisor who is charging a 1-2% AUM Fee and often they're putting one's investments into more high-fee investments that provide a further kickback to the advisor.

Fees eat away at your lifetime gains and minimizing them is crucial to your Financial Journey.

It's unfortunate that the Financial Industry is plagued by those more focused on lining their own pockets than yours but it's the hard truth.

There are definitely some great financial advisors out there that charge a one-time flat fee and they can be appropriate to use when making big financial decisions like retirement, but I still feel everyone should be sufficiently self-educated with their personal finances and investing because it is an invaluable skill for anyone who wants to achieve Financial Freedom.

Plus, if you're uneducated around Money there is no way you can identify if your financial advisor is actually doing what's best for you.

LIFE: Self-education is the Master Key to freedom.

There is so much that isn't taught in traditional school (high school or college) that is critical to success.

This includes:

- managing your personal finances
- responsibly using credit
- buying a home
- investing
- starting a business
- health & fitness
- mental health & happiness
- building a successful marriage

If you truly want to live a Fit Rich Life you have to self-educate through books, blogs, podcasts, courses, and coaching to hone your skills and proactively build a happy & fulfilling life of your own design.

If we just take a few moments and think through what areas of life we are struggling with we can easily identify the gaps that require self-education.

No one is coming to save you or solve your problems.

It is and always will be up to you to do the work to level up in the areas of life that aren't where you want them to be.

This requires taking 100% responsibility and taking proactive action to fill in the gaps of knowledge and taking the required steps to get where you want to be.

There are six months left in the year.

What are you going to do in that "one area of struggle" so you're not in the same place next year?

Closing Thoughts:

What is one thing you can do this coming week to improve your Fitness, Money & Life?

Here are some ideas:

- Commit to moving your body every day (especially when you don't feel like it).
- Take a step or two towards getting educated on managing and investing your money.
- Start listening to a podcast, read a book, or enroll in a course to level up an area of life that is lagging.

Remember, making progress is the most reliable way to create happiness & fulfillment in one's life.
